Ginny a wife, mom, grandmother, retired teacher from Long Valley Middle School and an active member of the Senior Resource Center in Chester wanted to do something to help first responders who were irritated by the elastic of face masks around their ears.  She saw a design for an extender which allows the elastic bands to attach, not to the ears,  but with a buttoned strip behind the head.  She began making them for family and friends, and when they were a hit, soon was making many more for workers at several hospitals in New Jersey and North Carolina.

Ginny said that this project has helped get her through this trying time, and it has surely helped others feel more comfortable and less stressed during their long hours of service.  She added that without the help of neighbors donating buttons and helping to sew them on the extenders she wouldn’t have been so successful in this joint effort.  We thank her for her acts of kindness.

Although Ginny does not have any more buttons to distribute completed extenders, she does have plenty crocheted strips.  If you or anyone you know would like the strips (buttons not included), please contact the Senior Resource Center in Chester at (908) 879-2202

In addition, please contact the Senior Resource Center if anyone would like to donate buttons, Ginny is in need of ¾ to 1 inch flat buttons.
